Self-Pay Private Pay

Private Pay

Private pay means your family pays for services directly. Some families choose private pay while waiting on authorization, for services outside a plan’s approved hours, or when using scholarship reimbursement workflows. We are transparent about the process and never invent rates on this page—ask our intake team for current private-pay information for the services you need.

Important: We accept / work with families using Private Pay. Benefits and authorizations vary—call to verify. This page is not a benefits quote.

What families should know

  • Clear intake path without waiting solely on a plan decision
  • May be used alongside insurance or FES-UA when program rules allow
  • Good fit while gathering documents or bridging authorization gaps
  • Bilingual team explains options in plain language

What to bring to intake

  • Child’s concerns and goals in everyday language
  • Any insurance, Medicaid, or Step Up award information (even if unused yet)
  • Prior evaluations or therapy notes
  • Preferred schedule and setting (clinic, home, school when available)
  • Questions about receipts or documentation you may need for reimbursement elsewhere

What happens at intake

  1. 1

We review clinical needs and which funding paths might apply later.

  2. 2

We outline assessment and session structure before you commit.

  3. 3

We discuss whether insurance verification or Step Up purchasing should run in parallel.

  4. 4

You decide how to start—private pay is never presented as the only option if other pathways may fit.

Frequently asked questions

Can we start private pay and switch to insurance later?
Often families explore that sequence, but plan rules differ. Tell us what you hope to do so we can avoid assumptions about backdating or retroactive coverage.
Can private pay work with Step Up For Students?
Some FES-UA families pay eligible expenses and request reimbursement through Step Up’s process, while others use marketplace direct billing when available. Confirm the allowed method in your EMA account and Step Up handbook.
Do you post session rates online?
We share typical ranges in context on service pages and give specific private-pay details during intake. Website figures are not a quote for your child’s full program.
